Northumberland's Multi-Level Indoor Softplay

Rose Dickenson, part of the family running Brocksbushes Farm since 1979, approached Play Creations to design, manufacture, install, and maintain a vibrant multi-level indoor softplay area for their new Play Barn. The Dickenson family sought a high-quality indoor play space that embodied the farm’s rustic, family-friendly charm, aligning with their mission to provide quality and innovation for visitors.

Play Creations conducted an initial site visit to capture Rose’s vision for a farm-themed indoor softplay area that would captivate families and complement the farm’s pick-your-own fruit and Courtyard Kitchen offerings. After a detailed building survey and collaborative feedback, we developed a design brief for a multi-level play structure tailored to all ages, with ongoing maintenance to ensure lasting safety and enjoyment, all crafted by our expert team using premium, UK-sourced materials. The main play area was designed as a thrilling farmyard adventure, packed with Play Creations’ signature features to maximize excitement and engagement across all ages. The softplay design focused on creating a large and exciting mutli-leveled equipment so that children of all ages could access it. The inclusion of features such as the spinning windmill and the decorative vines really helped bring the project together and to life.

Our expert softplay design team planned for key standout softplay equipment across all 4 levels. From a twisting Spiral Tube Slide to thrilling Ariel Glides, the features are intergrated into the main softplay structure to maximise both the age range and play value We helped Brocksbushes establish themselves as a customer-centric softplay destination, prioritising customer satisfaction and experience.

No major challenges were encountered and the softplay design and planning phase progressed smoothly, supported by our incredible indoor softplay team. They focused on planning each and every aspect, ensuring everything was up to the correct safety and standard compliances, to complete the project. Endurance and play value were key focal points and our team guranteed that every bit of equipment (down to the steel framework) was safe and secure for all children. Thrilling Aerial Glides offered overhead adventures, while a 4-Lane Astra Slide and a Drop Slide, styled with barn and haystack aesthetics, delivered competitive racing and heart-pounding fun. A twisting Spiral Tube Slide added an exhilarating descent, and a farm-themed Crawl Tube encouraged exploration, both seamlessly integrated into the rustic design. The Vortex Wheel brought a whirlwind of interactive fun, complemented by Spring Features for bouncy, farm-inspired movement. A full-size sports area on the first floor, featuring two trampolines, encouraged active play, while a bespoke role-play village on the ground floor, designed and built by our team, immersed children in a charming farm community, enhancing imaginative storytelling.

The baby and toddler zone was thoughtfully designed to cater to Brocksbushes’ youngest visitors, aged 0-5, ensuring a safe and engaging space within the Play Barn’s farmyard theme. This dedicated area featured a spacious free-play zone with soft, farm-themed climbing blocks shaped like hay bales and pumpkins, alongside a shallow ball pit with an air-powered seed juggler for captivating sensory play. A low-level framed structure allowed safe exploration, complete with a gentle, farm-animal-themed twin-lane slide for little adventurers. Interactive sensory panels with light-up barnyard designs added visual intrigue, scaled down to suit younger children. A cozy sensory nook, equipped with soft lighting and soothing farm sounds, provided an inclusive chill-out space, ensuring every child could enjoy the Brocksbushes experience in comfort and delight. The installation of the Brocksbushes Play Barn was executed with precision by our expert team, ensuring the four-level soft play area was seamlessly integrated into the new 2024 facility, ready for its grand opening. Working closely with Rose Dickenson, we coordinated a smooth and efficient install, overcoming the challenges of the multi-level design to deliver a robust, farm-themed structure that met the farm’s high standards for quality and safety.

Rose and the team at Brocksbushes Farm were so pleased with the final indoor softplay. They were pleased with how we worked on their timescale and how smooth the installation process was.
