Twinkle House - Skelmersdale

Twinkle House is a modern, blue and purple themed indoor softplay, designed and built by Play Creations. Created for children ages 0-9, this bespoke softplay installation is designed to provide a safe, engaging and sensory-rich environment for the children coming to Twinkle House.

In 2024, Holly Thompson, representing Twinkle House in Skelmersdale, partnered with Play Creations to enhance their fully inclusive wellness and sensory centre, to support families and individuals with special needs. The vision was to create a vibrant, two-level soft play area within their accessible facility, catering to children and adults of all abilities. Confidence, support and safety were all factors that Holly wanted to ensure that the softplay provided for the community Twinkle House represented.

Our goal for our customers is to provide a sustainable and long-term softplay installation that stands out. We aim to ensure every business we provide to gets durable equipment that can safely encourage play for all age ranges and SEND needs. To align with these goals, our softplay frames are made from timber, encased in foam which creates a long-lasting and durable playframe that stands the test of time. Other manufacturers use pure-foam which is more likely to sink with as time goes on. Our team conducted a detailed site visit to align with Twinkle House’s mission of fostering health, wellness, and joy in the North West of England, ensuring the play space would be a safe, engaging, and inclusive addition to their sensory offerings.

Holly and her team at Twinkle House invested £30,000 into the budget for the design, manufacture and installation of this indoor softplay centre. Supplied with high quality materials, sourced from trusted suppliers in the UK, the bespoke indoor playground sustained the budget and here at Play Creations, we ensure that it met all safety and standard compliances. We maximised the durability, functionality and play value that this indoor softplay could hold and incorporated their colour scheme into each element of the indoor softplays's design. Every feature offers long-lasting durability, ensuring that Holly made a worthy investment.

Collaborating closely with Holly Thompson, Play Creations developed a tailored design brief for a two-level soft play structure, prioritizing sensory and active features to suit diverse needs. Our building survey ensured the space was optimized for accessibility, incorporating a hoist and adjustable lighting. The design integrated sensory elements like light tubes, shape sorters, and mirror panels, alongside active features such as spring steps, a trampette, and a slide, all crafted to complement Twinkle House’s inclusive ethos. The layout was planned to create a joyful, stimulating environment for all ages and abilities. The finished indoor softplay area, was designed and manufactured by our expert indoor softplay design team using premium, UK sourced materials. The two-level structure featured sensory highlights, including LED Light Tubes, Shape Sorters, Mirror Panels and a Sensory Music Unit. These features all foster an engaging environment for children and adults with SEND needs. Alongside this, a colourful Bubble Tube further calmly engages the senses and allows for inclusive play.

Active features like spring steps, a trampette, a slide, a play slide, tumblers, and a rock climbing wall encouraged physical play, aspiring to engage a wide range of audiences for Twinkle House. We wanted to ensure that every aspect of this softplay installation would appeal to a different SEND requirement to allow complete inclusivity throughout the build.

Our softplay design team executed a seamless installation, ensuring full accessibility with a hoist and adjustable lighting, ready for Twinkle House’s diverse visitors. Bespoke fencing along the outside of the softplay allowed assisted lifts and allowed the space to remain safe for those inside. Since its completion, Play Creations has maintained an ongoing and long-lasting partnership with Twinkle House, providing regular maintenance to ensure the soft play area remains safe and welcoming. The complete softplay installation reflects the clients vision of a modern, design-forward softplay environment, successfully combining active play with sensory engagement.

The inclusive, sensory-rich space has become a cornerstone of Twinkle House’s offerings, delighting families, children, and adults while supporting the centre’s mission to improve health and wellness in the North West. This vibrant addition has strengthened Twinkle House’s reputation as a fully accessible, joyful destination, creating lasting, positive experiences for all who visit. Furthermore this showcases Play Creations ability to deliver tailored high-quality softplay environments that meet the budget, aesthetic and functional goals.
