Downtown Stores

Downtown Stores is a high-end luxury store found on the high street of Grantham. Created for children aged 0-5, this bespoke softplay installation provides a safe, exciting and engaging environment for customers at the store. In 2025, Peter Isaac approached Play Creations to bring his dreams of inclusive shopping to Grantham by incorporating this gorgeous Qube set into his store.

Peter was drawn to the Portable Qube Set, as this provides a flexible and portable softplay area with an affordable cost. The portable softplay set suits a 500-1000 sq.ft area which alligned with the space Peter had available at Downtown Stores. Our expert softplay design team worked closely with Peter to customise, manufacture and porduce the portable softplay equipment.

Designed with fun and safety in mind, the softplay encourages physical activity and provides a safe space for children to visit whilst their familes are in the store. Bright colours, interactive features and age-appropriate challenges help to keep the children entertained while supporting development. We capture these focal points through softplay equipment such as the SOMA Cube and Interactive Wall Game.

Our goal for every customer is to leave them satisfied with their softplay products for the time to come. Our bespoke timber frames allow for a long-term investment with minimal risk of future damage. Other manufacturers use pure foam for their designs, which risks flattening over time and forcing the softplay owner to replace the entire thing. We solved this problem by introducing our mix of timber and foam to prevent the foam from flattening as much and ensuring that less material needs replacing in the long run. The original design of the Qube set features the main frame of this commercial softplay, and with Peter's assistance, we re-designed the outside of the equipment to ensure it was safe for use in the store.

Peter invested £13,000 into the softplay, our expert design team collaborating closely with him to customise the standard Qube set to add features such as extra floormats, interactive wall games and a SOMA Cube. This ensures that the softplay equipment is durable, functional and met safety and standard compliances.

These visual softplay elements encouraged the kids to interact with their environment, explore the softplay equipment and give parents a peace of mind to shop whilst their children are enjoying the play equipment. Our expert softplay design team manufactured and installed the finished shopping centre softplay area, completing the project on time and within budget. The bright and bold softplay met Peter's vision and expectations, rewarding us with a long partnership with him and his store. The play equipment is interactive and manufactured to encourage activity and exploration for younger children.

Softplay equipment such as our timber slide and SOMA Cube encourage the kids to investigate and discover their environment using movement and their senses. These interactions help the childs development, both mentally and physically. Play is such an important feature in childrens lives and development, we had to help Peter encourage parents to let children play in a day-to-day environment. The completed softplay has become a welcoming family destination in Grantham, allowing Downtown Stores to grow in popularity for familes with young children. The provision of a safe and stimulating environment where children can learn, play and develop in confidence and securely has allowed the store to grow and increase return customers.

As Play Creations, we continue to support Peter at Downtown Stores and the company growth by offering a substancial softplay maintenance scheme, designed to give the store peace of mind when it comes to maintaining the softplay and keeping it in its peak quality.
