Play Ranges:

soft play, sensory play, adventure play

Resident Occupational Therapist, Tracey Seymour, of Durham's Trinity School contacted Play Creations to design an interactive softplay area for the children's school . Tracey asked if the softplay area could serve the pupils physical demands and be a place to let off steam. Subsequently, Play Creations and their expert softplay design team were in charge of conceptualising and designing the softplay, including the themeatic colour scheme. In addition, she confirmed the age range of the softplay needed to be between 4 and 12, which helped Play Creations with the design process.

To ensure we did not disrupt the children's education, the mutual decision to hold off on installing the indoor softplay area until the summer holidays was made. While this approach successfully protected the school's daily routine, it shortened our production window into a much tighter timeframe. This new schedule naturally introduced a unique set of challenges that we had to navigate along the way.

Softplay Designing and Planning

The softplay budget was £28,000 which Play Creations used to manufacture and install this indoor playground. Maximising play value, maintaining durability, also whilst preserving function were all key design aspects for this softplay. Complying with safety and standard compliances were another key factor that the softplay design team took into account.

The team prioritsed indoor playground equipment to boost play value in addition to keeping the cost low. Longevity and endurance of the equipment was also a key note point, as the softplay design team at Play Creations wanted to design a worthy investment for Tracey at Trinity School. The team designed and planned for featured such as the SOMA Cube, Swinging Buoy and Twin Lane Slides to deliver an enjoyable and interactive softplay experience.

Our team expertly handled the short timescale for the school's softplay, maintaining contact with Tracey throughout the entire process. This consistent communication reassured Tracey and allowed her to keep up to date with the indoor playgrounds process. This in turn helped Play Creations as all design and manufacturing decisions were made quickly and efficiently allowing us to do what we do best.
