Edinburgh School - Craigentinny's Bright Soft Play Zone

The team at Craigentinny school in Edinburgh approached Play Creations to manufacture an indoor playground for their school. The softplay theme was bright and colourful, and aimed to provide sensory stimulation feedback through proprioception. The team at Craigentinny requested that the softplay would appeal to a broad range of abilities. They wanted to create an inclusive environment for all the kids at their school.

We minimised disruption by installing the play equipment during the school summer holidays. This stopped children having any effect on their education. The 500 sq. ft softplay is cost-effective, prioritising making use of all the softplay space and sensory stimulation, our team designing the installation to meet Craigentinny's budget. Our expert softplay design team worked closely with Craigentinny to manufacture and produce this softplay equipment for children aged 2-8. Play Creations collaborated with Craigentinny school to manufacture and design the softplay to ensure the durability, functionality and, safety and standard compliance of the softplay equipment. Working with such an awkward shape room, our team manufactured a lot of the softplay equipment finishings on site to ensure the perfect fit. To hide gas and water pipes, our softplay design team manufactured bespoke timber frames to cover these segments of the softplay area.

The design process went off without a hitch, our expert softplay design team ensuring that every nook and cranny was filled with softplay equipment. We wanted to confirm that we had maximised the play value in such a small space, we didn't want there to be any leftover or wasted space. We utilised wall space by implementing interactive equipment such as our interactive wall puzzles which help add additional engagement features without taking up space. The Stepping Stones along with the Step and Slide in the softplay area encourages sensory stimulation, and immerses the children and allows them to explore using proprioception and helping to develop their sensory exploration and motor skills. Our softplay design team focused on leading the children through a developed stimulating experience to appeal to the broad range that Craigentinny wanted to be able to bring to the softplay. Sensory exploration is an incredible way for children to play and helps SEND children with their development.

Our team effectively delivered the softplay installation, ensuring eveyrhting was up to standard and arrived promptly. The timescale was short, with only the summer holidays to work with, so our team made sure to be as efficient as possible to ensure the softplay would be ready in time.

The key colourful elements of the softplay area include the SOMA Cube, the Ball Pool Spinner and the Tunnel. These softplay elements encouraged the children to interact with their environment and explore the softplay equipment. The bespoke indoor play area designs met the specifications to appeal to a broad range of abilities and allowed for an inclusive softplay area. Our expert design team worked around the awkward room shape and included interactive wall games and a softplay shape stack to make use of the more tricky spaces. Our softplay design team worked diligently to ensure every aspect of the indoor playground is functional, safe and durable. Each part meets the current safety and standard compliances for the UK, utilising commercial softplay grade vinyl, steel and timber. These will allow Craigentinny's softplay to handle high traffic and last a long time.
