Rushall School - Walsall's Room of Movement and Interactivity

In summer of 2024, the senior leadership team at Rushall Primary School contacted Play Creations regarding a project spanning over 4 rooms. They wanted to have a softplay, a dedicated movement room and 2 sensory rooms

The request for the movement room included encouraging children to interact with their environment and use proprioception within the space. Balance, co-ordination and physical feedback were the focal points for the softplay equipment. Rushall encouraged Play Creations to focus on this whilst designing this play space.

Rushall wanted to help children's motor skills in an adaptive and interactive softplay space. The colour scheme for this space was bright and bold, highlighting the 500 sq. ft of space and encouraging the children to utilise the space. The other brief for this build was to appeal to a wide spread of age ranges, wanting to not only maximise the play value in the space itself but also ensure the people that could use it. Children aged 4-16 can utilise this softplay equipment. £18,000 was the total budget for this movement room. The money went towards manufacturing an interesting and interactive softplay, whilst also sourcing high quality materials. The process for this softplay involved working alongside the main contractor site, operating on their schedule to ensure that neither project was obstructing the other. Play Creations had to engage with them to ensure a smooth install and blend with the refurbishment of the school.

Functionality and durability are always a priority and this bespoke movement softplay area is no different. Our expert softplay design team focused on these, ensuring safety and standard compliance. Maximising movement for the children was this rooms purpose. Utilising softplay equipment such as the Swinging Log and Swinging Platform, these allowed the children to move in different motions and they can interact with the equipment in different ways. Upon finishing the commercial softplay, with praise to our expert softplay design team for their timely deliverance and budget control. Our expert softplay team manufactured, designed and finished the final installation on time and within budget. We efficiently delivered this colourful, bespoke movement softplay area, which we manufactured and designed in the UK to meet the needs of the pupils at Rushall Primary School. Large spaces and strong equipment make the space suitable for ages 4-16, and the project met the key goal of maximising agility and motion in the room.

The senior leadership team at Rushall Primary school rejoiced over the final softplay, amazed by Play Creations' ability to maximise the movement value in the softplay. Our relationship with Rushall has grown, and we offer a softplay maintenance scheme to make sure all equipment is safe and functional throughout its lifespan.
